To have an ‘enabling environment’ is one of the four, statutory, Overarching Principles that are a key part of what must inform practice and provision across ECEC.  But how often do we step back and honestly reflect on what this really means?  What impact does our environment have on all who work within it?  Why is understanding this important? How do we know? And how do we inform what our environments to make them ‘enabling’?
