Ateliersita and Pedagogical Coordinator , Little Barn Owls Forest and Farm School Nurseries

I have been a part of Little Barn Owls since August 2018, starting in a variety of roles before finding my true calling as Atelierista and Pedagogical Coordinator. Since becoming a parent in 2021, I have had the privilege of working across our largest 120 place Nursery, where I currently focus on supporting the 3-5 year old group. In my role, I am dedicated to creating and maintaining environments that ignite children’s curiosity and passions, ensuring their learning experiences are rooted in their ideas and interests. My role is to create and maintain rich environments which support children’s fascinations and interests, to truly listen to children, and provide them with a curriculum based on their own ideas and theories. I love fostering long-term project work, facilitating enquiry-based learning, and providing research-based provocations that deepen children’s understandings. The principles and practices of our approach even spill over into my parenting too. I recently had the immense pleasure of visiting Reggio Emilia in Italy, where I gained a pure, true and even deeper understanding of the Reggio Emilia Approach. This experience furthered my commitment to providing meaningful, child-led education for our capable, competent and curious children.
