Karen Faux - Editor of Nursery World Magazine

It’s our 100th birthday!

"This is a very special year for Nursery World. The magazine was originally launched in December 2025, into a world of strict codes, hierarchies and servants.

One hundred years later it is fascinating to see how attitudes and societal norms have shifted.

Nursery World has provided a lens through which the big reforms of the 20th and 21st centuries have been viewed. Coverage of legislation on adoption, abortion, equal rights, working conditions, and the founding of the health service have all been captured on its pages over the decades.

One thing that hasn’t changed, is our essential remit – to support the professionals who are committed to the wellbeing of young children.

Nursery World’s magazine and website gives a voice to everyone in the early years community and supports collaboration around key areas such as best practice, workforce, diversity and business. Priorities are to support professionalism and help all types of early years providers to flourish in their quest to deliver high quality.

In addition to its expert content it also supports the sector with a range of live events, including an annual Business Summit, conferences, provider and supplier events, and the hugely popular annual Nursery Awards.

In our celebratory year we have added a brand new event to the calendar – the Nursery World Big Day Out. This will be a hugely upbeat event, truly delivering something for everyone. In addition to the packed programme don’t miss our fascinating exhibition of Nursery World covers through the decades, which feature Royalty and pop stars!

Most important of all, in our birthday year we will be shining the spotlight on the many individuals working in the sector who are a source of inspiration. Go to nurseryworld.co.uk’s ‘centenary hub’ to have access to exclusive content and find out more about our plans to celebrate the people who make the sector so vibrant."
